1. If you know what your player is going to do, or not do, you can use this information to your favor. If you are 100% sure that when you check, they will bet for you, it's a big advantage.

2. It is best to only raise from good position. Being last to act in PLO is a big advantage. If first to act and you flop top two pair, you are often in big trouble. However, if it's been checked all the way around to you and you have top two pair, you can be confident that it is the best hand.

3. Don't overplay aces preflop. AAxx is only a 2 to 1 favorite against 4 random cards. Also, by raising preflop with them, you are basically telling your opponent you have them.

4. Be certain you understand the math involved. PLO is a big time drawing game and you want to make sure you are getting the right price to make your hand. Be familiar with the odds against the board pairing with 2 cards to come (about 2 to 1), and how many outs you need to have to call a pot size bet if they are all in. (15 outs is a 2 to 1 dog and you are getting 2 to 1 if you call a pot size bet). Do your homework, you only have to learn it once and you will know it forever.

5. Buy in with enough chips to be able to protect your hand on the flop, If you are playing a $2/$4 blind PLO game you want to keep at least $120 in front of you at all times. This will afford you the ability to keep many of the draws out if the pot is not double or triple raised preflop.

6. Try and see as many flops as you can, for as cheap as you can.  Be careful however with lower pairs, as its highly possible for you to flop a set only to be beaten by your opponents higher set.

7. Try and see a lot of flops with "connectors" like 6789, or even hands with a gap in them (5789) When playing gapper type hands, make sure the gaps are on the small end, not on the big end (like 5679),cause these hands are often harder to improve. These type of hands seem to make for this biggest pots cause often 2 players will make the nut straight and get all the chips in, the one with the live flush draw will be free-rolling for the whole pot.

8. Be very careful when you are drawing to a King or lower flush. Often it is not very good for you. A big advantage of playing with an ace in your hand is if you have A T 9 8 and the flop comes something like 884 you know you have the best kicker and if you are up against someone with 44 in their hand you are not a big underdog with 10 outs and two cards to catch it on. This also puts them in "no mans land" on 4th and 5th street because they are not sure what you need to make your full house, which puts them in lots of danger.

9. Remember there is very little bluffing in PLO. Often times a few players will be drawing to beat your hand or you will be drawing to beat theirs, so if the board has the 3 card flush or the board is paired, you had better respect it.

10. A double raise almost always means there are aces out. You want to stay away from having pairs in your hand and having an ace in your hand in this situation. The best hands to play against aces are your "connectors" like 6789. You are not that big of an underdog and if you hit your 2 pair, maybe even a set or straight you know where you stand and the aces have no clue where you stand.
