2-7 Single Draw is a lowball variation of Five-Card Draw with the lowest combination winning the pot. This lowball game is sometimes called as Kansas City Lowball. Unlike hands in other low games, in 2-7 Single Draw straights and flushes count against you, and aces remain high, thus the best hand in deuces to seven is 2;3;4;5;7 (with at least one card off-suit), hence the name of the game. Therefore, a wheel is simply ace-high no pair.
2-7 Single Draw is typically played at a table with six persons.
The game starts with 1st two gamblers to the dealer’s left side paying the blinds.
When these mandatory bets have been posted each player at the table then receives five cards facing down and the first betting round begins.
The 1st person after the blinds has the option to fold his hand, call the last bet, or raise the current bet. The option of checking is not allowed in the first series of betting. Play moves in a clockwise order around the poker table until the round is complete. The 1st betting round ends when the persons have called or folded for the highest bet on the poker table. The players go to the draw.
At this point remaining players have the right to swap any cards from their hands during the draw and and have them replaced with new cards. Starting with the person nearest on the dealer's left, the player announces how many cards he wishes to discard from his combination and discards the same number into the muck. The objective in exchanging cards is to modify player combination, by saving cards that have the potential to accomplish a good hand, and discarding those that don’t.
After the draw, a final series of betting takes place with the first remaining gambler to the left of the dealer position, who may choose to bet, check (in the event that no bets are posted) or fold. The betting round proceeds until the players in the hand have either checked, folded, or called the current bet.
After all the betting ends, all the remaining persons who have not folded enter to showdown. Beginning with the first player to the dealer’s left side who is still end the game, players reveal their cards or muck and the person holding the strongest combination is awarded the pot. In the case that two or more opponents have the same value five-card poker combination, the money is split up into equal parts.
